I have auburn hair and im looking to find an over the counter product/shampoo that will darken it to brown?

- Just for men says it only concentrates on the gray hairs.. but I dont have gray hair..

If I were you, a first timer, I would use a regular ';women's'; hair color. You do not want to use a ';permanent'; LEVEL 3 dye. If you don't like it, it will take FOREVER to wear out. You may want to use a demi-permanent LEVEL 2 dye (lasts 28 shampoos) CLAIROL NATURAL INSTINCTS. They also make it for men now. Find a color just a little darker than your own the first time. The other option would be a Semi-Permanent color LEVEL 1 such as Clairol Loving Care. THis will last for about 12 shampoos. This would be the ';safest'; way to start your hair color experimenting, and would be a great way to try on a new color. The phone # on the back of the box gives you more support if you need it. You can try level 1, and if you have good luck, you may want to try level two a few months later.
